Tamika Francis (She/Her), Graduate Intern Therapist
Heart Body Mind Psychological and Assessment Services
"Our feelings are our most genuine paths to knowledge." Audre Lorde.
As a person who had many transitions, changes and has embraced her own wellness and healing journey. I truly believe we have the capacity to grow, learn, change, and embrace what life throws at us with the right tools in our toolbox. Challenges will come in many different forms, some from the present, the past, and even the future, but you don’t have to face them alone. My goal is to help you along your journey. I aim to create a safe, warm, and affirming environment for you to share, learn, grow, and heal. We may be a good fit if it's important that your therapist holds an anti-colonial, anti-oppressive, and anti-racist lens, is non-judgemental, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive and aware. I enjoy a great sense of humor and I believe in going in at your pace and where you want to be.
I have an extensive background working with children, adults, and families in the following areas: trauma, self-harm, substance use and addiction, life transitions, mood disorders, neurodivergence, anxiety and depression. I am big on radical self-compassion and giving yourself re-do’s, re-tries, and grace. I also stress the importance of the body-mind connection and making sure you feel regulated in your body.
I often support people going through life transitions, navigating systems of oppression, trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, and neurodivergence. I understand the reality of intersectional identities and how your identity can impact how you show up and are treated in life. Regardless of the stage you are in in your journey, I aim to support you and give you the space to lean into and breathe through it.
I am honoured to be working as a graduate intern therapist with Heart Body Mind Psychological & Assessment Services supervised by Meg Hasek-Watt, R. Psych.
I offer virtual and in person sessions through our Barrier-Free, No Cost Therapy programs and am honoured to be carrying on the legacy of the UplifeHER no cost therapy program for Black immigrant women created by Abigail Onwuka (she/her) - past graduate intern therapist.
