Erin Cape Psychological Services

At Erin Cape Psychological Services, Timber (therapy assistance dog in training) and I love working with clients who aren’t afraid to turn inward and look at feelings, thoughts, sensations, strengths, needs, and relational patterns to make better choices to support a meaningful life. Feelings work can be hard, so I aim to provide a safe and non-judgmental space to develop our relationship, explore stressors and emotions, try new things, and set active goals for yourself. I provide both short and long-term therapy to best meet you where you're at in your self-development journey and help you meet your goals at a pace that suits you.

I work with clients using primarily cognitive-behavioural (ACT, CBT, DBT) and relational approaches that center on applying your strengths, working through discomfort, exploring patterns of behaviour, and making active choices. My practice is active and experiential, so expect to learn and practice tools in sessions and apply them in your life in between. I also have my dog Timber available to join us in sessions. Animal-assisted therapy has been shown to have benefits for clients including increased empathy, trust, and communication, and decreased stress. In sessions, Timber likes to support clients by being up on the couch available for pets, or snoozing on the floor to demonstrate that we are in a safe and supportive space. He can be a bit slow to warm up to strangers at times, but give him some time and some snacks and he will be happy to hang out with you!

Starting counselling can be daunting and finding the right therapist who gets you is key. If you're looking for a therapist and animal companion who will sit with the feelings that show up, bring authenticity and humor, and push you to be your best self, send me an email to connect. To book a free 15-minute consultation, please contact me at info@erincapepsychology.com, or complete the Contact Form through my website, erincapepsychology.com, or find me on PsychologyToday.
