Tishina Shannacappo (She/Her), Registered Provisional Psychologist

Heart Berry Psychology

Hi there!
Welcome to Heart Berry Psychology. I am Tishina, a Registered Provisional Psychologist. I am originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba and relocated to Calgary in October 2023—I adore your city, and I look forward to working with you, whether you are seeking warm, affirming therapy or precise, holistic assessment services.

Assessment Services:

I provide comprehensive, strength-based psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. I am passionate about integrating a holistic, whole-person perspective into each clinical, standardized assessment I engage in, whether working with you or your kiddo. It is never too late to learn about yourself and your cognitive & academic strengths and areas of required support.

I specialize in high-quality psychoeducational assessments, including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, giftedness, intellectual disability, and specific learning disorders. Co-morbid symptoms, including social-emotional and behavioural concerns, will also be screened and attended to.

It is my goal that each assessment participant and/or their family feels confident & comfortable and leaves the clinical space moving forward with thoughtful, evidence-based reports and recommendations to uphold their overall well-being (i.e., social, emotional, behavioural) and academic success.

Therapy Services:

As a newer therapist, I draw first from my experience as a therapy seeker who loved receiving treatment from a humanistic, existentialist, and narrative framework. As a doctoral student, I also ground my practice in evidence-based modalities and up-to-date therapeutic research. I will hear you, support you, and ask affirming questions. Whether you prefer to slow down and delve into the therapeutic process by exploring significant emotions and life circumstances from a systemic perspective, or you lean towards wanting concrete skills and efficiency through cognitive behavioural therapy, I will adjust my style to align with your needs.

I have an interest in supporting teenagers with complicated feelings and thoughts, individuals from culturally or systemically disenfranchised backgrounds, and post-secondary students from all backgrounds. I can work empathetically and sensitively with neurodiverse populations, and importantly, I am LGBTQ+ and trans-affirming.

I offer a free 45-minute consultation to discuss your goals and see how we can best align at Heart Berry Psychology.

Personal Interests:

I am a story and relationship-driven person, meaning I love reading non-fiction, essay collections, and some fiction—I am a former indie bookseller, so my collection is large! I love spending time with my best friends back in Winnipeg, going for walks, and preparing nice girl brunches. As an introvert, I look forward to evenings when I can relax in my mountain facing apartment (mood lighting activated), listening to music, studying (it never ends), and playing with skincare.
