Jenn Labrecque (She/Her), MSW, RSW

Labrecque Counselling

Hi! I’m Jenn, a Registered Social Worker with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work. I have extensive experience working with people to navigate their way through life’s difficult moments including those working through loss and grief, addictions, sexual assault, and trauma issues as well as those experiencing depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. If you are looking for support coming out, transitioning, questioning your gender or sexuality, or other aspects of your identity, I can  support you with a space that is welcoming of diversity and provide an affirmative and exploratory approach. I respect and support the efforts my clients make as they work to find resolutions to their problems, and I appreciate the courage and humility it takes to seek therapy.

I employ an eclectic approach in my practice, utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I approach therapy in a collaborative and culturally sensitive manner to help my clients maintain motivation, build self-confidence and resiliency, gain insight and understanding, and set the stage for meaningful change. I encourage clients to view both their strengths and vulnerabilities as necessary and valuable parts of themselves and strive to increase their capacity to change and grow. I am eligible to see Canadian Forces Members and Veterans, CPS members, and their families and virtual sessions with residents of Ontario. I am a member of WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) and IS-ART (International Society of Accelerated Resolution Therapy).

I love camping, music, tea, and board games. While I love the Folk Fest, my partner would prefer a Flames game and we’ve learned to compromise and meet each other halfway and like to travel for concerts and games. I have a rescue dog, Millie who makes me laugh, and believe animals can be an amazing source of support, safety, and healing.
